Leukemia and Lymphoma society’s kickoff was just this Friday (1/17)! Our Leukemia and Lymphoma Society team, the Lymphomaniacs, run by Kaylee Tate and Gabriella Cerra are starting off this fundraising kickoff with multiple different events. 

First, corporate matching takes a huge role in LLS. Corporate matching gifts are a type of philanthropy where companies financially match donations that their employees make or contribute to nonprofits. Corporate matching works in multiple different ways: 1. Corporate Employee Matching Gifts: these types of programs encourage employees to make donations because the employers match the donations that their employees make. This type of matching gift program can bring in many donations since donors don’t have to “reach into their back pockets to max their gifts. 2. Fundraising event matching gifts: In events like 5K races to raise money for a cause, the money that is made by a participant can be matched by their employer if they work for a company that offers a fundraising match program. 3. Corporate Volunteer Matches: When someone volunteers with a nonprofit organization, they can record their hours and submit a volunteer grant request to their employer and their employer will write a check to the nonprofit after they verify the hours worked. There are also many more ways, but these are the three main ones.

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are doing a partner night with LLS. Tickets for the Phantoms game on February 8th are discounted to $22-28 and the Lymphomaniacs make $5 off of every ticket purchased under “Team Lymphomaniacs” until February 3rd. The Lymphomaniacs are also hosting a Designer Purse Bingo at the Jim Thorpe Area High School on February 8th at 3 P.M. Tickets are $25 per person. There will be raffles, refreshments available for purchase, and more. All proceeds will go to support the LLS campaign.
